KALISPELL, Montana — Local Flathead Beacon Bomber, Don K Hobby Stock, Hornet, Lucas Oil Super Stock will be running along-side Super Late Model drivers from the US and Canada next weekend. All will be challenging for their share of over $64,000 possible dollars in Gold, Cold Hard Cash, and Prizes.
A major emphasis on local divisions this past winter made this event possible. The ownership and management wanted to give back to the locals that have kept racing in the Flathead Valley for more than 22 years. A big thanks goes out to TTC and Kalispell Toyota for their sponsorship of this first year event.
The first annual event will kick off on Friday August 10 with time trials at 7pm and racing firing up at 8pm. Friday night will feature the Bombers, Hobby Stocks, Hornets, and Super Stocks all running trophy dashes, heats, and main events. The Super Late Models will have a chance to practice during Friday night’s intermission. The Hornets will run a 25 lap main event and for the first time will be paid for their main event. The Flathead Beacon Bombers and Hobby Stocks will compete in their own respective 50 lap mains with added prize money. The Lucas Oil Super Stocks will round out the evening with a 75 lap main event, the winner of this event will go home with $500.
Saturday will feature the Kalispell Toyota Super Late Model in a grueling 212 lap main event. Drivers will compete for their share of over $54,000 in prize money. The winner will take home a special commemorative gold bar for the event and cold hard cash. Spectators will also have a chance to G.E.T. Rich and win a commemorative gold coin at the event. Currently 27 drivers have confirmed their entries for the event. Time trials start at 6pm and the top 12 Kalispell Toyota Super Late Model drivers will be locked into the event. These drivers will compete in a positioning heat race for the event. Drivers not locking into the Montana Gold 212 will compete in a 40 lap last chance qualifier event that will position the remaining 14 positions.
Pre Registration for this inaugural event is still open. Drivers wanting to enter are encouraged to log onto montanaracewaypark.com or call 406-257-7223. A special two day ticket package is available for spectators. Kids 12 and under will be admitted free of charge on Friday night only. All seats for Saturday are all ages/all seats one price.
Spectators and drivers will also want to get to the track early to meet with the editor of Circle Track Racing Magazine. Montana Raceway Park was chosen to be part of the 2012 Amsoil Great American Circle Track Tour. Bob Bolles, Senior Technical Editior will be at the track on Saturday to talk with spectators and racers about racing in Montana.
