JEROME, Idaho — 15-year old Hannah "Hurricane" Newhouse, driving theThompson Motorsports #61 Coca-Cola/ESPN the ZONE sponsored Chevrolet, stormed back to victory lane Saturday night in the Super Stock division at the third-mile paved oval of Magic Valley Speedway in Twin Falls, Idaho. The victory was her fifth main event win of the season and extended her point lead despite a questionable penalty from the track that saw her lose points from last weekend.

Newhouse spent the last half of the week in Iowa with the Thompson Motorsports team for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series event. Newhouse also had the opportunity to meet several NASCAR executives, team owners, and she also spent the day with Danica Patrick and her race team in preparations for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race staged yesterday. Patrick finished 11th.
"It was an incredible couple of days in Iowa," Newhouse said. "It was my first time at a big race. Meeting really great people and to experience what it is like at a big event was just incredible. Getting to meet and spend time with Danica Patrick was amazing. Danica is someone who I really look up to and someone who I would love to race against in the future."
Newhouse also had to endure a penalty levied by the race track which took away her points from the second main event last week, which weighed upon her and the team. "It feels like they do not want us to be successful," Newhouse said. "We thought about it all week and whether we wanted to race. We left Iowa at 3am MT time focused on putting the penalty behind us and on winning."
And win she did. Newhouse blistered the field in qualifying and started at the tail of the field steadily moving through the pack making her way to the front midway through the shortened 32-lap race. "This win was big," Newhouse stated. "A big thank you to Brian (Helm), Shane, and Ang for the track support and to Thompson Motorsports for building and preparing the best race car."
"We were unsure of what we were going to do the rest of the season. We decided we just needed to focus on winning races and the Whelen championship."
Newhouse could be the youngest ever female NASCAR Whelen All American Series champion in the 30-year history of the national weekly series. She has already claimed the title of youngest female winner in the series.
Through twelve races in the Commercial Tire Super Stock division, the feature NASCAR Whelen All American Series class at the speedway, Newhouse has 11 top five and 12 top ten finishes including five victories, three second place finishes, four third place performances, and a ninth place effort. She has also notched seven fast time qualifying awards and is leading the point standings heading into the final nine races.
Newhouse will be back in action next weekend in double main events alongside the CarbonX Rocky Mountain Challenge Series. For the latest news and to follow Hannah Newhouse all season, log onto her website at www.hannahnewhouse.com or her Facebook page.
