KALISPELL, Montana — Spectators were treated to a night of racing madness, that included hard charging racing action and thrills and spills. State Farm Insurance agents in the Flathead Valley presented the nights racing festivities. The night featured the Bandoleros, Flathead Beacon Bombers, CHS Legends, and Lucas Oil Super Stocks.
Bryce Denney qualified in the top spot for the Bandoleros. Brock Denney took home the trophy dash win. In the heat race Bryce Denney took first, followed by his brother Brock, Blake Hamilton, and Isaiah Sickler. Bryce Denney continued his winning ways and took the checkers in the 20 lap main event. Bryce is locked in first place for the year end point series.
The CHS Legends have had a four week break to get their cars prepped for the final events of the 2012 season. Dalton Halden and Tyler Corpron came into the weekend locked in a battle for first place in the CHS points chase. Tyler Corpron set fast time for the evening. Hal Rogers edged Devin Clayton for the trophy dash win. On Friday afternoon Devin Clayton was down and out trying to figure out how he could race on Saturday night after his engine builder failed to complete his Yamaha Legend motor. Clayton made a call to fellow Legend competitor Wrango West. Wrango and his father Chris set a plan in place to allow Devin to compete in last nights festivities. The borrowed engine was installed in the #77 Legend at 3am on Saturday morning. This borrowed motor allowed Devin to take first in the B heat. Payton Saxton took the A heat win. The main event was plagued by a number of cautions. In a late race caution Corpron got into Halden, ending Halden’s run. Corpron was sent to the back of the pack. On the last lap Dave Daughtry, Devin Clayton, and Peyton Saxton tangled in turn four. A wily Corpron had made his way back to fourth position. The late race incident worked in Corpron’s favor allowing him to claim first position. Corpron leads the points chase by 20 over Halden.
Chris Warburton rolled into the weekend first in the Flathead Beacon points series. Warburton set fast time for the night. Wes Miljies won the Trophy dash. Miljies took the win in the B heat race. Kyle Koehler beat out Bill McCallum to take the A heat race. In the main event, Miljies started on the pole. Warburton rallied through the night after starting sixth. Warburton tried to catch Miljies, but in the end Miljies took the checkers and rolled into the winners circle. Warburton continues to lead the point by 25 over McCallum.
The Lucas Oil Super Stock division is starting to become the NASCAR Nationwide Series of the Kalispell Toyota Super Late Model division. A number of current and former Super Late Model drivers took to the track to have some fun Saturday night. Brandon Sickler sat atop the points series coming into the weekend. Tylor Schweigert set fast time for the night. The B dash was won by Tim Sundberg and Tyler Corpron took the A dash. Chuck Wiech edged out Bruce Stinger to claim the checkers in the B heat race. Adam Kinkel bested veteran Danny Morris to claim the A heat race. Fifteen Lucas Oil Super Stocks took the green flag on Saturday night. After a wild main event a determined Bodie Morton wheeled his car to first and took home the hardware. Morton used this win to give him the drive to go into next weekend’s Montana Gold 212. Micah Sampson finished second and Danny Morris rounded out third. Brandon Sickler continues to lead the division by 33 points over Tyler Corpron.
Coming up next weekend the Local Flathead Beacon Bombers, Don K Hobby Stocks, Hornets, and Lucas Oil Super Stocks will be running along-side Super Late Model drivers from the US and Canada next weekend. All will be challenging for their share of over $64,000 possible dollars in Gold, Cold Hard Cash, and Prizes in the 1st Annual G.E.T. Rich at the Montana Gold 212.
The festivities will kick off on Friday August 10 with time trials at 7pm and racing firing up at 8pm. Friday night will feature the Bombers, Hobby Stocks, Hornets, and Super Stocks all running trophy dashes, heats, and main events. The Super Late Models will have a chance to practice during Friday night’s intermission. The Hornets will run a 25 lap main event and for the first time will be paid for their main event. The Flathead Beacon Bombers and Hobby Stocks will compete in their own respective 50 lap mains with added prize money. The Lucas Oil Super Stocks will round out the evening with a 75 lap main event.
Saturday will feature the Kalispell Toyota Super Late Model in a grueling 212 lap main event. Drivers will compete for their share of over $54,000 in prize money. The winner will take home a special commemorative gold bar for the event and cold hard cash. Spectators will also have a chance to G.E.T. Rich and win a commemorative gold coin at the event. Time trials start at 6pm and the top 12 Kalispell Toyota Super Late Model drivers will be locked into the event. These drivers will compete in a positioning heat race for the event. Drivers not locking into the Montana Gold 212 will compete in a 40 lap last chance qualifier event that will position the remaining 14 positions.
