
NASCAR Whelen All American Series will make its return to All American Speedway for its second to last championship point’s race this Saturday September 1st. On tap will be the return of the NCMA Sprints, Street Stocks and Bombers. As the weather cools off with Saturday expecting mid 80 degree temperatures the points chase will continue to heat up providing lots of racing action. Don't forget the speedway now offers FREE PARKING for all AAS NASCAR weekly Championship races excluding the NASCAR K&N race in October.
After this past weekend Mickey Owens has pushed his lead further in the points in hopes of wrapping up another Street Stock championship with only two races remaining. Owens leads the division with a total of 433 points and his brother Kevin Owens is in second with 401 points. Matt Camp sits third with 379 points and Richard Poppert Jr in fourth with 346 points. Byron Gonzales sits in fifth.
In the Bomber division David Thompson leads the way in points with a total of 501 and sits comfortably with a 17 point lead over second place Erick Ray. Chris Paulson jumped into the third spot with 448 points just 11 points ahead of Richard Perez. Eric Bocksberger sits in fifth place.
Scott Winters is sitting on the top spot in Modifieds with 364 points and has a good lead to be crowned the 2012 Modified champion. Rich Lindgren sits in second only 25 points behind Winters. Tight battles for third as youngster Chase Grigsby moved into the third spot with 265 points. Jason Bamberg in fourth is only 8 points from Grigsby. Jason Philpot is fifth but only one point away from fourth. Gary Glenn sits comfortably in sixth. Modifieds will return on September 8th for the 2012 Championship Finale.
Matt Scott with two consecutive Late Model Championships as AAS is about to claim his third championship. Scott leads the division with 225 points and Chris Scribner in second with 196 points. Ron Chunn sits comfortably in third with 169 points as Chris Lambert moved into the fourth spot with 144 points. Travis Milburn is holding onto the fifth spot. The Late Model division will return on September 8th for Fan Appreciation Night and the 2012 Championship Finale
