The SPEARS Southwest Tour Series Rolls Into The Bullring

BAKERSFIELD, California — The teams of the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series will travel to The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend for the “Century Boatland 125”. The Saturday night event will be the eighth event of the 2012 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series ten-race championship season.

This weekend’s event will be the second of three races for the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series scheduled at The Bullring in 2012. The drivers that compete this weekend will be eligible to win the $15,000 winner’s share of the prize money when the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series returns to The Bullring for its 2012 season finale on November 17th.

More than 30 teams have entered Saturday’s “Century Boatland 125”, including five past SPEARS Southwest Tour Series champions; Dave Byrd, Eric Schmidt, M.K. Kanke, Jonathon Gomez and Jim Pettit. Former NASCAR Southwest Tour champ, Craig Raudman will make his first start of 2012, driving the Dave Reed Racing #14.

Other drivers making their 2012 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series debut include Brennan Newberry and David Mayhew. After spending his summer competing in ARCA and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Newberry will make his first SPEARS Southwest Tour Series start of the year this weekend. Mayhew, who is currently third in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship and has been selected to drive the Brad Keselowski Racing #19 in four upcoming Camping World Truck Series events, will drive a third NTS Motorsports car at the Bullring.

With three races remaining in 2012 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series championship, Derek Thorn leads the championship standings over rivals Pettit and Kanke. In seven races so far in 2012, Thorn has driven his Four Star Fruit Ford to four wins, with Pettit, Kanke and Jacob Gomes all with one win apiece. All four of these drivers are former SPEARS Southwest Tour Series winners at the 3/8’s-mile Bullring.

NASCAR Super Late Models, NASCAR Super Stocks, NASCAR Bombers, USLCI Legends Cars/SRL Legends Tour presented by Pro-Cast Products, USLCI Bandoleros, and USLCI Roadsters will join the SPEARS Southwest Tour Series this weekend. Ticket Pricing: Advanced Ticket Pricing: Adults- $10 Senior/Military- $8 Kids- $6. Day-of Pricing: Adults- $12 Senior/Military- $10 Kids- $6.
