Rocky Mountain Raceways’ 2012 IHRA Drag Racing season came to close with the Night of Fire on Saturday, September 29. A season-high spectator count energized the racers as a field of 17 jet cars illuminated the skies over Salt Lake City. 2012 NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster Champion Jim Whiteley set the tone for a great night of racing when he broke Rocky Mountain Raceways Pro Mod record in his 53’ Pro Mod Corvette. With just a handful of runs on the car, Whiteley went 6.315 breaking the previous record of 6.456 set by Joe Delehay in 2010.
