JOHN ZARETZKE WINS ALBERTSONS/OSCO DRUG

Phoenix, Ariz. (October 25, 2001) In what he called the biggest win of his career, John Zaretske of Yakima, Wash. held off a fierce challenge from Eddy McKean and Ken Schrader to win the Albertsons/OSCO Drug "125" Thursday afternoon at the one-mile paved oval of Phoenix Int'l Raceway in Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR Touring competition. The win was worth more than $11,000 as Zaretske won in classic fashion coming from the tail end of the field to make it to the front in the closing laps. Several cautions (8) slowed the event to an average speed of 76.988 mph which allowed Zaretske to methodically make his moves on each restart.

Eddy McKean from Jerome, Idaho edged Ken Schrader for second at the finish line as the margin of victory was .107 seconds. Rounding out the top five were Ken Kaltschmidt and Jeff Jefferson. Craig Raudman by virtue of his 30th place finish clinched his first FSWS championship for the Yerf-Dog/Advantage Memory backed team. His championship rival, Auggie Vidovich Jr. managed to finish in the tenth position, but did not gain enough ground on Raudman to take the title.

The FSWS will close out the 2001 racing next Saturday afternoon at Tucson Raceway Park in Tucson Ariz. in the running of the Ray Judy "150". The event is named in memory of a faithful and dedicated NASCAR FSWS official who passed away earlier this year.
