
This Saturday’s “West Coast Transmissions 125 presented by AmeriPride Uniform Services” at Roseville’s All-American Speedway will be the ninth race of the ten-race 2012 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series championship season. The 125-lap SPEARS Southwest Tour Series race will be part of the two-day event this weekend that will also feature the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, Late Models, Legends, and Modifieds.
SRL NOTES OF INTEREST:
CHAMPIONSHIP – With two races remaining in the 2012 SPEARS Southwest Tour Series championship, a total of seven drivers still have a mathematical shot at the title; Derek Thorn leads with 1378 points, Jim Pettit 1329, M.K. Kanke 1305, Jason Gilbert 1227, Jared Vorse 1108, Ross Strmiska 1082, and Jacob Gomes at 1078 points.
PAST ROSEVILLE RACE WINNERS – Past SPEARS Southwest Tour Series race winners at All-American Speedway include: Derek Thorn, Bobby Hodges, Eric Holmes, Troy Ermish, and M.K. Kanke.
NATIONAL POINT LEADER – SPEARS Southwest Tour Series driver, Derek Thorn continues to lead the national point standings for the SUNOCO Driven Challenge. Thorn leads all drivers of the CRA, PASS and ASA Midwest Tours competing for a test with Joe Gibbs Racing at the conclusion of the 2012 season.
TOP ROOKIES – With two races to go, Zane Lovelace currently trails Bethseda, Maryland’s Jeff Oleen in the 2012 Victory Circle Chassis Rookie-of-the-Year point standings, 931 to 951.
LEGENDS – Saturday’s event is the 8th round of the SRL Legends Tour presented by Pro-Cast. SRL Legends Tour top 10 point leaders after seven races are; Ryan Cansdale with 1058 points, Darren Amidon 1054, Zane Smith 976, Cale Kanke 962, Christian McGhee 925, Buddy Shepherd 903, Ricky Schlick 903, Chad Schug 879, Jonathon St. Ours 807, and Michael Womack at 719 points.
RACING FOR SIGHT – SPEARS Southwest Tour Series drivers Zane Lovelace, Jr. of Roseville and Scott Sanchez of Livermore have seen the power of cornea donation. Zane's mother, Cheryl Camilleri died in a horseback riding accident in August. The family found comfort in the fact that Cheryl was able to be a cornea donor and give the gift of sight to two people. Scott's father, Marty Sanchez, lost his sight to corneal blindness, but is now able to watch his son race and enjoy life thanks to two cornea transplants made possible by the generosity of donors. The two drivers are working with Donate Life California, Sierra Donor Services and SightLife to host a donor registration drive at the track this weekend.
