EDMONTON, Alberta — Canada - 17-year old Kelly Admiraal of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada driving the #83 Williams Scotsman/Western Camp Services Chevrolet will make his second career start in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series tomorrow night at All American Speedway in Roseville, CA. All American is a banked 1/3-mile paved oval unlike anything the youngster has ever competed at before but he is looking forward to the challenge.
"Edmonton Driver Excited About Next Test In NASCAR Career "
oval has become a staple on the 59-year NASCAR series and a fan favorite. A full weekend of racing gets underway tonight with the NASCAR Whelen All American Series followed by the SRL Southwest Tour and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series
tomorrow night under the lights.
"I am really looking forward to the race tomorrow night," Admiraal said. "As a team we learned so much about what it takes to compete and as a driver I learned about managing tires, restarts, and having a car at the end."
The layout at Roseville can challenge even the savviest of veterans with two completely different sets of corners. "We have tested at Shasta and with the race experience from New Mexico, I am a lot more comfortable in these heavy cars," Admiraal offered.
Admiraal's first order of business is to get comfortable at All American and find speed in the car. With one of the largest short track entry lists (30) of the season, the Admiraal team will be put to the test early securing one of 24 qualifying sports for the race. The top 20 drivers will qualifying on time with four provisional positions being awarded.
"Qualifying will definitely be a concern but with Steve Graham preparing the car and the crew focused, we feel really good. Once we are in the race then it is all about racing to the end and being in position for a top ten finish."
Admiraal Racing is owned by Menno Admiraal, a successful business entrepreneur and owner of Western Camp Services Ltd. based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
