Grassroots Motorsports Event, Sunday Oct. 21st, San Francisco Bay Area

Our East Bay beer team with a racing problem was recently shooting the crap and sharing tall tales about our escapades in our bad-ass, extremely unreliable race cars. And we were discussing just how many fellow crap can teams must be out there locally now who are either racing Lemons and/or ChumpCar (aka chump car) or have been sitting on the sidelines and wish they did! Being the very unorganized group of racers that we are (especially the night before a race), we decided that it would be cool to get this group together in the easiest way possible....throw a BBQ and share a beer...as long as it's not at our personal residence (we still value our wives & neighbors, especially since they endure endless engine testing at 2:00am on a school night).

So we approached the local Les Schwab Tire Center (btw, seriously competitive on Faulken tires, etc.), and while they offered their facility, it was a no-go on beer onsite...yes, a deal breaker. But they did provide us with an awesome gift certificate for a drawing giveaway for our event!

Next on to the local kick-ass BBQ joint that just happens to have a back patio beer garden & parking lot for those of us crazy enough to tow down our hoopties for display. Thank you to fellow car enthusiast & Smokey D's BBQ owner Dave Huitt. While normally closed on Sundays, he's graciously offered use of his establishment because he thinks we're professional racers...sssshhhhhh. By purchasing a ticket above for $3, we'll cover the dogs & trimmings (e.g., catsup, mustard & relish...we may spring for chopped onions). The bar will be no-host (a fancy term for "you buy"); Smokey D's offers an assortment of craft beers and Coors, Bud & Pabst for those of us that have to choose between racing and paying our mortgage each month.

SO HERE'S THE SCOOP:

Date: Sunday, October 21, 2012 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Location: Smokey D's BBQ, 601 Main Street, Martinez CA 94553

(Right off of I-680, easy to get to)

Cost: $3 per person, buy at ticket at www. lemonschumpfest. com that is emailed to you immediately

WE NEED A HEADCOUNT SO BUY YOUR TICKET NOW

Your Car: If you would like to bring your crap can racer to display, it's most welcome...we're limited to 15 cars in the back parking lot, but there is also lots of adjacent street parking too. RSVP above or by sending an email to inf @ lemonschumpfest.com.

Your Crap: If you are interested in bringing a car or parts to sell at this event, that's welcomed too. Again, we're limited to a 15-car parking lot, first-come, first-served.

AND YOU CAN WIN CRAP TOO! In addition to the gift certificate from Les Schwab Tires, we also had a $250 gift certificate for a car entry donated by ChumpCar. And we have a couple other things laying around our collective garages that we will donate to the cause (yes, we couldn't use them ourselves). If you know of any other companies that want to donate to our cause, pass them along to our website.
