Fullerton, CA -- Finding himself in the middle of one of the closest points battles in the history of the NASCAR Winston West Series, Eric Norris had little trouble deciding to bring his best car and motor to the season finale Jani-King 250at Irwindale Speedway this Saturday night. The Dana Point, California resident is aiming for his first win in what will be his eighth career start at the ˝ mile oval.
“Being that this is the last race of the season and we have a chance to move up in the points with a good run, we figured we’d bring our best car, the one we normally only race at the big tracks, and see how it stacks up,” said Norris. “I’m really excited about our chances. I love this race car and think it’s going to be really good at Irwindale. We also are using our strongest engine, built by Pro Motor, so we aren’t leaving anything on the table. This will be our best chance ever to win at a track we haven’t been that good at in the past.”
Norris enters Irwindale fifth in the championship point standings, a mere twenty-one points out of fourth. The veteran Winston West driver will need a good finish to maintain his fifth place position as he is only thirty-seven points ahead of eighth place in the standings.
“It’s been a pretty frustrating season with so many good runs ending in disappointment,” commented Norris. “So it would be really nice to finish the season with a win and a third or fourth place finish in the championship. We’re going to give it all we got and hopefully we’ll be celebrating with the three-hundred Jani-King guests attending the race.
The Jani-King 250 will be televised by Fox Sports Net on a tape delay basis .
