The NASCAR Winston West Golf Tournament held on Friday November 9th, 2001 was a big success thanks to the participation of the golfers, prize donations and tee-sponsors. It was chamber of commerce weather as the teams tee'd off for the second annual fundraiser that benefits Chaplain Dick Varder and the Winston West Motor Racing Outreach. There was coffee and muffins to start the golfers off and also included was a box lunch to keep their energy levels up.
It was mentioned that there were a few wayward shots that opened up the eyes of our course volunteers during the tournament and had them ducking for cover.
The tournament would like to thank Nancy Loveless for coordinating the tournament and the prize selections and also Becky McBride for working the tournament and awards dinner afterward.

The awards dinner was put on in a fantastic setting. What could be better than eating great food, drinking a few suds, winning raffle prizes, all with the roar and scent of race cars practicing on the track as background music. Ah, such is life.
The winners on the course were: Larry Nava, Sam Arciero, Steve Bright and Brian Norcutt representing the # 77 Winston West Team.
The big raffle winners were: the # 16 Napa Auto Parts Team and the # 4 Food 4 Less Team. Both the point leaders were asked to give a preview of the next days race and there was a lot of hooting and hollering going on by all the other teams represented. All in all it was a great day of fun and sun. Next years event will be held in Las Vegas in conjunction with the season finale and awards banquet. See you there!.
