CHRISTMAS CHEER

The Performance Motorsports Winston West # 77 made it's annual trip down to skid row this past Sunday morning to help spread Christmas cheer to the less fortunate. Twelve members of the team turned up on a beautiful day to help distribute toys, blankets and food to about twenty thousand people that show up for this event that is held the week before Christmas. The Fred Jordan Mission has been putting on this Christmas give-away party for about fifteen years now and it keeps getting bigger and bigger every year. The families are treated to a chapel service and then entertainment is put on by companies like Disney.

The Fred Jordan Mission has a great number of employees and volunteers that are big NASCAR fans and the team has to give an annual report the minute it shows up.

This year the team had double duty and started the weekend out on Saturday morning in East Los Angeles at the Christmas party given by King Taco Restaurants. This party is put on by our good sponsor and this year attracted close to five thousand kids. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus were brought to the party on a Los Angeles County hook & ladder fire truck. There was good representation by the racing community. The Winston West cars of Joe Bean and Steve Portenga were on display. (we had to keep the cars apart because every time that 3 car gets close, well you know). Representatives from California Speedway and Irwindale Speedway were also on had to answer questions that the youngsters had. For many of them it was their first up close look at a real race car.

Performance Motorsports would like to wish everyone a joyous holiday season and prayers for the less fortunate and also for our boys that keep this country great and free!!!
