RANDY BROWN WINS SEASON OPENER AT THE

LAS VEGAS, Nev -- Randy Brown and team RB3 Racing win the 100 lap season opener at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's "Bullring" at the season opener for the Mechanix Wear Speed Truck Challenge.

"We were optimistic for the season opener at the "Bullring" due to our winter test program and the hard work by all of my team members and especially my dad [Bob Brown] and Rich Gautreau of Rich's Motorsports," explained Randy Brown driver of Speed Truck number 99. "We were fast right off the trailer at the Friday night practice, and the Speed Truck just got better with each practice lap we turned and with only minor adjustments kept us in the fastest 3 of 28 Speed Trucks right into the Saturday practice sessions. In qualifying we experienced a fuel leak but, I kept my head and laid down a lap to give us 5th fastest of the session and with the inversion started outside pole position and made into the Trophy Dash," Randy continued. "We made a minor change and tested this change in the Trophy Dash and we knew we had the Speed Truck to beat in the 100 lap main event. When we went green in the main I knew we could get to the bottom of the track after starting on the outside with the Rich's Motorsports set up. We got a good run off of turn 2 and passed the #26 Speed Truck driven by Jimmy Perry in turn 3 for the lead. I was continually reminded by my spotter [Bob Brown] of the 100 lap race and the need to save the tires, but I had the #1 Speed Truck driven by Josh Gilbert all over me. It was real close, real tight, but clean and fun racing with him for almost 100 laps. When the checker flag waived I was very excited as this was only my second win with the Speed Truck Challenge and Las Vegas has always presented problems for us. I would like to thank Steve (meat) Richardson, Herman Snook, David Lindow, Steve Newton, Rich Gautreau and my Dad [Bob Brown] for all their hard work and thank my sponsors Bar Glo Welding, Haz Mat Backhoe, Kinemetric Engineering, Pennzoil and Good Graphx." Randy concluded.

Randy Brown will compete in the March 30th, 100 lap race at the "Bullring" in Las Vegas for the second of sixteen televised events on FOX Sports for the Mechanix Wear Speed Truck Challenge. You can see Randy's winning race on April 6th and April 7th on FOX Sports Arizona, FOX Sports West and FOX Sports Southwest, check your local listings for time.####
