FOCUS SHIFTS TO MESA MARIN FOR PETTIT, BAYPAC CREW

BAKERSFIELD, CA (Monday, April 1, 2002) - Jim Pettit II will climb behind the wheel of the #03 Hall Kinion.com/Career Builder.com Ford Taurus when the BayPac team returns to Mesa Marin Raceway this Saturday for the Rialto Concrete Products "125".

Pettit is in 4th place in the overall driver's standings after the first two races of the 2002 NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series, despite a disappointing finish last weekend in the Coors "125" at Cajon Speedway. Some unpredictable weather and a qualifying mishap forced the team to take a provisional and start 22nd in the 24-car field. Pettit managed to weave his way through the field to finish 11th, then set his sights on Mesa Marin. "We haven't had an opportunity to go to Mesa Marin with his car, and this seems to be a really good racecar," Pettit said. "I'm looking forward to it."

Pettit and crew chief Duane Sharp put the car through testing last week at Mesa Marin, a track that wasn't all that good to the BayPac team in 2001. An 11th place finish was Pettit's best effort in three trips to the ˝-mile oval in 2001, but the team feels it has the package to compete this time around. "We gained some knowledge during testing and I'm confident we'll get it all figured out by the time qualifying rolls around on Saturday," said team owner Jesse Rhodes. "Jim had his ups and downs at Mesa Marin last year, but after racing there three times last year and testing last week, he seems to have found his comfort zone."

The race is scheduled to begin at 9:00 PM PST. BayPac Racing has once again signed Hall Kinion.com as their primary sponsor, and has also inked a secondary deal with CareerBuilder.com for the 2002 season.
