LOCAL CORONA RACER, BRUCE BECTHEL ENTERED IN AUTO CLUB 300

El Cajon, CA—Local Corona electrical contractor and racer, Bruce Bechtel, was sought out for aone-race deal for the upcoming NASCAR Busch Series Auto Club 300 race atCalifornia Speedway on Saturday, April 27, 2002. Driving the #77 2002 Ford Taurus owned byTony Hall, Bruce expects to be among the 45 other Busch entries trying tosecure a position for the 150-lap race on the 2-mile D-shaped oval in Fontana,CA. California Speedway always looksforward to hosting the popular Winston Cup, Busch and Winston West Series racesas the speedway is a favorite track among the Winston Cup and Buschdrivers. Only 36 drivers will qualifyusing their times and the remaining 7 positions will be filled by past championand provisional standings.

Bruce Bechtel has logged over 1500 laps and over 90 hours at California Speedway as a driving instructor for a driving school overthe past several years and feels that will help in his finish. “Realistically, I hope to take the green andcheckered flags and stay on the lead lap. This will be a talented field of drivers and I would like to finish inthe top 25 while driving a safe race,” quoted Bruce. “Owner, Tony Hall, has a great programmatched with an experienced team of crew members, and I am happy to be aassociated with his motorsports program,” said Bruce.

The gates open Friday, April 26 at 7:00 AM with the NASCAR Busch Series practice from 9:15-11:15AM and qualifying starting at1:30PM. The Auto Club 300 Busch racewill also be televised live this Saturday on Fox at 1PM (CA TIME).
