Bakersfield, CA – This Saturday Mesa Marin Raceway will host two headlining race divisions in one big night. The NASCAR Late Models and Super Late Models are scheduled along with the Street Stocks and Auto Club 911 Race for Youth Series this Saturday night.

The Late Models will be competing in the second event of the 2002 “Big Five Series”. The “Big Five Series” is five events on the Late Model schedule that pays a bigger purse, with a longer race distance. 76 Race Gasoline, Grapevine Oil, and Fastrip Food Stores present the “Big Five Series” at Mesa Marin.

“The NASCAR Late Model series at Mesa Marin is a great marketing tool for our line of products,” stated Lisa Gunter – Owner of Grapevine Oil.

“Grapevine Oil sells all types of fuels and lubricants, including 76 racing oil and gas. This is a fun and exciting way to be directly involved with our customers.” Gunter added.

Kevin Harvick won the first race of the “Big Five Series” on April 27th, when he started from the rear of the 28-car field to win the 75-lap event. There has not been a repeat winner in six Late Model races at Mesa Marin in 2002. Race winners have included, Danny Collins, Jason Selvidge, Travis Irving, Gary Elmore, Kevin James and Harvick. Defending Late Model series champion Gene Fife is currently atop the point standings.

Also, in NASCAR Super Late Models competition, there has not been a repeat winner this season. Mike Duncan, Craig Raudman, Barry Bradshaw and Brandon Miller have each found the winner’s circle on one occasion in 2002. Duncan leads the Super Late Model points chase over Miller and Bradshaw.

The Street Stocks and the Auto Club 911 Race for Youth Series will also be in action Saturday night. Josh Horn has won three in a row and leads the Street Stocks standings, while the District Attorneys Office leads the Bakersfield Police Department in the Auto Club 911 Race for Youth Series standings.
