Rick Crawford, hoping to erase one of the longest non-winning streaks in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series history, will start Friday's MBNA America 200 from the pole position for the first time in his 132-race career.
Crawford, whose only series victory came in March 1998 at the Miami-Homestead Speedway - 103 starts ago - lapped Dover International Speedway's one-mile, concrete oval at an average speed of 150.414 mph.
The 43-year-old Alabama native, who drives the No. 14 Circle Bar Ford F-150 truck, has started second four times, most recently at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2001.
Crawford out-qualified the Ultra Motorsports tandem of Jason Leffler and Ted Musgrave, whose Dodges had won four of the year's previous five poles. Leffler qualified second at 149.483 with Musgrave taking the No. 3 spot at 149.099.
Terry Cook, at 148.687 in a Ford and Travis Kvapil, with the fastest qualifying Chevrolet at 148.105, completed the top-five for the $582,893 race.
David Starr, Ken Schrader, Coy Gibbs, Robert Pressley and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point leader Mike Bliss completed the next five starters in the 36-truck field.
Bliss leads Starr by a single point for the championship while Crawford is third, 28 behind.
