BENDER WINS AT MONROE

John Bender from Monroe, Wa, the 2000 NASCAR Super Stock Champion and current points leader in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge, won his second feature of the year in the 50 lap event at Evergreen Speedway on Saturday Night. Bender who qualified second quick started eleventh in the twelve car invert, sixteen cars lined up for the A-Main. Ryan Erickson led the first two laps before Marty Sokulski took the top spot on lap three and led until lap ten when Matt Murphy grabbed the lead. On lap 22 Joe Decker, Jr and Robb Touchette who was going for his third straight win tangled in turn three with both cars losing a lap. Murphy held off the challenges until lap twenty nine when Bender made the winning pass. John Zaretzke finished second followed by Sokulski, Tom Moriarity and rookie Kevin Brown who posted his first top five finish of the year.

Points leader Dave Lund from Arlington won his third feature of the year in the 30 lap NASCAR Randy’s Ring & Pinion Bomber main event after passing early leader Tim Davis on lap 16. Davis finished second over Victor Fort, Steve McElroy and Gary Flammang.

Canadian driver Ken Jorgensen from Langley, BC won the 30 lap NASCAR Mini Stock feature after starting from the back of the 19 car field. Jorgensen passed Michael Johnston on lap seventeen to win his second feature of the year. Johnston finished second ahead of Kevin McLeod, Chuck Richard and points leader Bobby DeYoung.

In the FEAR Super Figure 8 division, Malcomn “The Maniac” Lindberg won his first feature of the year as he held of Doug Wilkinson, Doug Delfel, Steve Peters and Mike Buse.

Steve Peters from Monroe, the defending Extreme Contact Figure 8 Champion came home the winner in the 25 lap feature, finishing just ahead of points leader Merlin Cook, Jody Brooks finished third followed by Troy Simianer and Ben Raynes
