Raybestos Rookie Brendan Gaughan grabbed the lead off pit road under caution on lap 109, the result of a two-tire change ordered by crew chief Shane Wilson, then held off Travis Kvapil over the race's final 59 laps to win Friday night's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series O'Reilly 400 at Texas Motor Speedway. Gaughan, driver of the No. 62 NAPA Auto Parts Dodge, became the ninth consecutive different winner at the 1.5-mile venue and third freshman driver to win at TMS. Gaughan, who won $63,000, averaged 129.569 mph for the 250.5-mile distance. Kvapil, last year's top rookie and Texas winner in October, fell 2.364 seconds short in his CAT Rental Stores Chevrolet. David Starr, forced to the rear of the 35-truck field after changing engines in his Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet, finished third, ahead of Rick Crawford and Ted Musgrave. Seven drivers completed all 167 laps as seven competitors exchanged the lead 10 times. Starr boosted his point lead but only fractionally. He leads Crawford by 17, Musgrave by 20 and Mike Bliss by 17. Bud Pole winner Jason Leffler led 45 laps early but was eliminated in a single-truck accident in Turn 1 on the 107th lap.
