Magic Valley Speedway’s own Nick “The Kid” Lynch let his talent shine as Got Milk presented the Cactus Petes Intermountain Late Models on Saturday night.

Nick Lynch had no problem repeating his last win at Magic Valley Speedway Saturday night in his Mr. Gas Chevrolet. Lynch has been know for his dominance at Magic Valley Speedway as the 20 year old has captured more than his share of wins in an American Race Truck. Moving on this season to selected Intermountain Late Model races and NASCAR Feather Lite Southwest Series races, Lynch has captured wins in all three starts in his Intermountain car including his win at Rocky Mountain Raceway. Saturday night saw Lynch make a mistake we rarely see from the driver as he lost control of his car on the backstretch bringing out a caution and starting at the rear of the field on lap 19 of the 50 lap main event. By lap 38 Lynch had taken over the lead and was well on his way with another victory. Jeff Flynn came from the ninth starting spot in the 17-car field to capture second while Chris Schrade came in a close third. Clint Kidd suffered serious car damage in the heat race as he got into the backstretch wall but, with the help of a great crew Kidd was able to pull of a fourth place finish followed by Quintan Whitman. The Randy Hansen American Race Truck action started early as the first caution fell on lap three and the battle for third put the second row three wide on the front stretch leaving Jason Hatfield no where to go except for the wall. Hatfield was able to continue but all hopes of a win were gone as the handling toe was knocked out. Melvin Radmall took the early lead on lap three and maintained a great line, holding off veteran driver Kenny Vanderham. Vanderham made several challenges for the lead but failed to get the job done. Jason Newhouse finished third after being sent to the back twice for being involved in a caution. Newhouse was driving brother Johns truck after a motorcycle wreck took John out for the season with a broken leg. Former NAPA Auto Parts Pony Stock driver Ryan Stapleman captured fourth with Dan Pehrson rounding out the top five.

Napa Auto Pony Stocks ran an incredible race as no cautions fell in the 25 lap main event. The green flag action gave defending champion Alan Larson just what he needed to take his first victory of the 2002 season. Larson came from the fourth starting spot to take over the lead on the fifth lap. Point Leader Scott Sidwell was able to reel Larson in during the final laps but fell short of making the pass. Billi Miles, Kevin Bermingham and Chad Packham rounded out the top 5.

After a heat race that looked more like a demolition derby than a race, the Dairy Queen Thunder Stocks were give a 25-lap or 20-minute main event. That seemed to be the ticket to cleaning it up and racing as the main event went caution-free. Georgia Oge took the early lead and looked like she was on her way to her first victory when Justino Macedo took the lead away on lap 10 looking like he was on his way to his first win. Macedo took the white flag but, John Urie was there to take one last shot at the lead and pulled it off just in time, leaving Macedo with a third place finish. Jim Shirley stuffed his front bumper to the rear bumper of Urie capturing second as the fans were on their feet cheering. Sam Harris and Kevin Larson rounded out the top five.####
