Sacramento, Ca ( June 17, 2002 ) Area auto racing fans will have the oportunity to get "up-close and personal" with some of the race world's top drivers and their vehicles.
Thompson's Auto and Truck Center in Placerville, Ca. is hosting a " Motorsports Day" on Wednesday, June 19 from 5-8 pm.
Local racing champion Tony Hunt will be on-hand to sign autographs and meet fans during that time, and fans can also see Hunt's / Thompson's sponsored USAC sprint car.
Other drivers on hand with their vehicles include Josh Haden and his "Relentless Pursuit" drag boat: Dan Boscacci and his " Circle D Racing" dragster as well as Greg DeCaires, CJ Humphrey, and Scott Russell and each of theeir respective sprint cars.
The featured guest at the event is NASCAR star Jerry Nadeau, who will also be on hand to meet and sign autographs. Nadeau will also be competing in the Save Mart Foods NASCAR Winston Cup event June 23rd driving the #44 Petty Enterprises, Georgia Pacific sponsored entry.
The event is a unique opportunity for th efans to get an up-close look at some of the top race vehicles in the industry and meet the drivers who pilot the high speed machines.
Hunt is the defending USAC Western States sprint car Champion and is on an early pace to earn consecutive titles in that series.
Nadeau has started all but one Winston Cup event this season, with just one top ten finish thus far this season.
Nadeau finished seventeenth overall in the 2001 Winston Cup Standings, compiling 10 Top Ten finishes, and Four Top Five finishes.
