BAYPAC ENTERS TWO CARS IN SOUTHWEST RACE AT SEARS POINT

SONOMA, Calif. -- Jim Pettit II, driver of the #03 Hall Kinion/Career Builder Ford Taurus, will have some company in the garage this week as he prepares for Saturday's Snap-On Tools/Jelly Belly 200 at Sears Point Raceway.

BayPac Racing team owner Jesse Rhodes, who regularly turns laps on the famed road course in the GT America Series, will try to qualify for Saturday's Featherlite Southwest Series in the team's #49 Hall Kinion/Career Builder Chevrolet.

Pettit enters the series' 7th race of the season in 8th place in the overall driver standings. He is coming off a disappointing 17th-place finish at Irwindale.

"We need to get this thing turned around," Pettit said after the race at Irwindale, which was marred by the death of John Baker. "This team is better than we are showing. We just got to keep on plugging."

If Pettit is looking for some inside information on the two-mile, twelve turn road course, he won't have to look far. Rhodes has turned thousands of laps at Sears Point over the years in a number of different divisions, and has seen the course go through a plethora of changes on the way to it's current state.

"I'm sure Jim and I will get together and share a little knowledge," said Rhodes. "He did a wonderful job a year ago in qualifying and then ran into some unfortunate trouble during the race, but I was impressed with how quickly he took to the track. It should be quite exciting." BayPac Racing has once again teamed with Hall Kinion.com as their primary sponsor, and has also inked a secondary deal with CareerBuilder.com for the 2002 season.
