Terry Cook, fastest during Friday afternoon's pre-qualifying practice, took the Bud Pole for Saturday's GNC Live Well 200 at The Milwaukee Mile. Cook, second at Memphis Motorsports Park on June 22, brought the same No. 29 Power Stroke Diesel Ford to State Fair Park. He edged defending race winner Ted Musgrave for his first Bud Pole of 2002 with a fast lap of 119.784 mph around the flat mile. Because of harder tires and a switch of carburetor, the pole speed was slowest since 1997 and well off Greg Biffle's record of 121.102. Musgrave's No. 2 Mopar Performance Dodge was just five-hundredths of a second slower than Cook at 119.558. The pole was Cook's first since last August, at Nazareth Speedway, and fourth since joining the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He'll be attempting to win for the second time this season, having taken the checkered flag at Gateway International Raceway on May 5. Coy Gibbs will start third -- best in his career -- at 119.383 in the No. 20 MBNA Chevrolet. Memphis winner Travis Kvapil was fourth fastest with Mike Bliss, who won at Pikes Peak International Raceway in May, taking the fifth spot.
