ATTENTION NASCAR members, there are only 23 days left to get your vote to NASCAR to vote for the True Value Mechanic of the Year award. All members can vote only once. This includes all divisions from the local track feature divisions clear up to the Winston Cup Series including all Officials.
John T. King is running for the NORTHWEST REGION. He is the Crew Chief for Eric Tibbitts, #5 Late Model Super Stock in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Presented by Dodge at South Sound Speedway in Tenino Washington. He is also the Crew Chief for Steven Howard, #8 in the NASCAR Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series.
His resume includes many years in racing. He began his career as an owner/driver at South Sound Speedway in 1981 where he raced for several years. He then moved on to building and maintaining them in addition to driving off and on over the years.
King, a veteran NASCAR Crew Chief, Chassis Consultant, Spotter and Mechanic in a variety of NASCAR divisions, was the 1994 Pacific Coast Region True Value Gold Wrench Mechanic of the Year award winner and Crew Chief of the Year with Brian Balmelli at South Sound Speedway with the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Presented by Dodge.
He has a history of success with many wins, championships and top finishes while working with highly talented teams. John has worked with drivers Eric Tibbitts, Steven Howard, Troy Conrad, Brian Balmelli and Brad Rhoads of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series Presented by Dodge. Mike Sauls of the Interstate Series. Steven Howard, Wes Rhodes, Rob Holden, Bill Lawrence, James VanCleve, Gary Smith, Ron Eaton and Ken Stearns of the NASCAR Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series. Wayne Jacks, Larry Gunselman, Dirk Stephens and Rick McCray of the NASCAR Winston West Series. Buckshot Jones of the NASCAR Busch Series. Dane Pitarresi with Dominic Dobson - owner, Andy Genzman and Dave Rezendes of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He also consulted for many other drivers and crews. John spends a lot of his "spare" time working with teams on the phone on their set ups too. He also answers any questions at the track from other teams, including other classes.
John has also taught chassis seminars in Tacoma and Pasco Washington, Kalispell Montana and Nanimo British Columbia Canada. Drivers, Crew Chiefs and team members that have attended the seminars have experienced a high level of competition and some attribute their successes, including first wins, to the knowledge they have gained at his seminars.
Your vote for John would be greatly appreciated. He is trying to win not only the Northwest Region award, but also the National. There has never been a National winner from the Northwest, and John would like to represent the Northwest as the National winner. With your vote of support for john, you can help the Northwest have their first National Champion.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact John or Beth at 253-843-9111 or email at RACEKINGS@aol.com
Remember, the ballots must be received at NASCAR in Daytona by 5 PM EST on July 31, 2002. Your ballot is in the June and July issues of the NASCAR Magazine, or contact John to vote (so you don't have to cut up your magazine). A photocopy of the ballot is accepted, but you can only vote once.
