DAVE BLANKENSHIP WINS JIM BURKE FORD 75

BAKERSFIELD, California -- Dave Blankenship has been close to a win all year long and tonight everything was in his favor to take home his first 25th Anniversary Mesa Marin trophy in the Jim Burke Ford 75. Starting on the 2nd row, Blankenship was out front by lap 3 and stayed the course until the checkered. Carson Woods, Jr., Jon Campbell, Kevin O’Neil and Shawn Wolf finished behind him. Ryan Arciero was running a strong 2nd place until he brushed the wall and then spun on lap 60 and had to settle for 7th place.

Jimmy Tartaglia picked up his 2nd win of the season but had to fight off David Tuey down to the very last lap. Tuey won the earlier trophy dash. Larry Dietz finished a distant 3rd.

Bruce Sellers picked up the champagne in the Cal Spas Super TT Motorcycle Sportsman Class followed by Ed Coffey and Ernie Lyles.

Points leaders from Argentina Pucho Bagnis took another win away from Bakersfield favorite Rick Pierce, who finished 2nd followed by Casey Yarrow in the Cal Spas Super TT Open Class.

In the 911 Race for Youth Series the Mike Riehle of the Kern County Sheriff picked up a long-awaited trip to the winner’s circle for the department. He jumped out front and held onto the lead for the 12-lap main event. Mark Adams of the Bakersfield Fire Dept. was coming up front fast, but looped it on the front straight leaving the door open for Dwight Grimes, Kern County Building to pull off a 2nd place followed by John King, Kern County Fire, Mike Reed of the CHP and Katy Houchin of the Parks Dept.

Shafter’s Bryan Blaylock got it all together tonight to win the ChevronTexaco High School Series Main event. He was able to avoid a 4- car crash that took out South, Kern Valley and North and left Tehachapi limping. David Stafford of Mojave finished 2nd followed by Tim Bonita of Delano, Stacie Childers of Monache and Joey Averman of Porterville.

Next week ChevronTexaco and the Chevron Dealers host the return of the NASCAR Late Models, Street Stocks, ChevronTexaco High School Series and the 911 Race for Youth plus a featured appearance of the American Truck Series. Tickets are $9 for general admission with kids 12 and under free. ####
