Race Report
#00 Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary Chevy
JaniKing 200 at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway on July 27
IRWINDALE, California -- We Qualified on the outside pole and led the race
The Oliver car is finding speed again and we dashed into the early lead from our starting position on the outside of the front row. We paced the field for the first 55 laps until the #00 car became very lose and I had to let Kevin Richards move by with Austin Cameron in his wake putting us back to 3rd until we pitted.
We had only one pit stop on lap130 when we ran out of fuel and forced us to pit, we also got right side tires, at that point the starter failed and the Oliver crew had to restart the car by pushing it down pit lane, all this only took 30 seconds but we did lose a lap falling back to 12th place. .
Near the end of the race the caution flag flew, setting the stage for a final dash to the finish. We had moved back up to 8th at that point but decided not pit because we would lose track position, we stayed out for the race to the finish. When the green flag dropped on lap 192 we were able to move up two more places and finish 6th.
We went on the same left side tires the entire 200 laps and the #00 was on the ragged edge at the very end. We moved up to 9th in the point standings.![]()
