CBA MOTORSPORTS @ IRWINDALE

ARCADIA, California -- Rod Johnson, the 1999 Irwindale Speedway Super Late Model Champion, will drive the CBA Motorsports Chevrolet in the NASCAR Southwest Tour race at Irwindale Speedway this Saturday, August 10, 2002. In the last Tour race at Irwindale, Rod was one of two drivers for CBA Motorsports. Having to use a provisional to get in the race, Rod started near the back and finished ninth, making him one of the hard chargers in the race.

Having raced for over twenty years, Rod is a veteran. "Rod is finding that the competition for qualifying is intense in the Southwest Tour" said car owner Clarence Broussard, "but once in the race he is a threat to win no matter where he starts."

CBA Motorsports has had three drivers during the 2002 season. Sean Monroe, a gifted driver, raced for the first four races before leaving the team. Tony Toste raced for four races, giving excellent performance particularly in qualifying for the highly competitive Sears Point road course race. His business did not allow him to continue racing at this time.

CBA Motorsports went to Rod Johnson to strengthen our chances in the races at Irwindale and Mesa Marin. Over the years, he has demonstrated that he can win at these tracks. With Tony Toste leaving, Rod will be the driver for CBA Motorsports for the remainder of the year.
