PALMDALE, California -- Rip Michels has team up with car owner Gail Chase, and Jackson Race Cars for his Featherlite Southwest Tour debut August 10, 2002 at Irwindale Speedway. Rip Michels, know as "The Ripper" has had great success at Irwindale Speedway and is currently second in points in the Super Late Model Division with a series leading 4 wins.

He stats are impressive said Dave Jackson. Who should know a thing are two about talented drivers. He has helped the careers of some of the most legendary drivers on the West Coast. Including Ron Hornaday, Jimmy Insilo, Steve Portenga, Tru Cheek, and Dan Press. Rip has had a total of 172 starts in three different divisions. He has 39 wins 110 top 5's. He has two championships, one at Mesa Marin in 1997 in the Grand American Modifieds, and one at Irwindale Speedway in 2000 also in the Grand American Modifieds.

Rip has the determination to be a winner, he reminds me of a young Ron Hornaday. He will drive the car to the limits every single lap said Dave Jackson

Rip said that he is thankful for the opportunity to drive this car for all of his sponsors. And looks forward to this new challenge. Our goal is just to learn, we would like to finish in the top 5 but our goal is to be in the top 10. I want to thank Gail Chase for the opportunity to drive his car. I also would like to thank all of the people who made this dream happen for me.
