ERIE, Colorado -- The second of two "Pitside Seating Only" events on Colorado National Speedway's 2002 calendar was held on Friday night, offering divisions that only see limited action at the 3/8 mile paved oval an extra chance to compete. After coming up just short during the last outing by the Super Modifieds, a determined Johnny Pickard returned to Victory Lane. The Pueblo, CO driver has now claimed feature wins in three of the four appearances by the division in 2002.

Starting last in the 13 car field, Pickard only needed two circuits to get to the front of the pack. Most-recent winner Mark Molendyk chased Pickard to the end, but was no match in this round. Pickard owned a 12 car-length margin at the finish of the 25 lap event. Molendyk, Rich Castor, Gary Land and Ira Castor completed the top five.

Realty Executives Legends Car Series action saw Danny Medina grab yet another victory. Medina, who has dominated the division over the past three years, had his hands full holding off Jay Sant throughout the second half of the 20 lapper. Sant made several attempts on the leader, but came up just short, trailing by less than a car length at the stripe. Barry Dykes took third, with Paul Harder fourth and Anthony Medina fifth.

Del Smith cruised to an easy win in the Baby Grand Stock Cars. Smith powered ahead of runner-up J.D. Daniels by a full straightaway, while veteran driver Wayne Muhler made his first start in the division a good one with a third place finish.

The RX-7 Mazda Spec Racers, in their only appearance of the year, ran a very competitive event. Jason Ott overhauled Jeff Groff with ten laps remaining to mark the final lead exchange, and stretched out to a four length margin. Erik Knowles crossed the stripe third.

In the 100 lap Enduro Stock Car contest, Bubba Willox came out on top. Willox made his move with just seven laps to go, passing Joel Hansen and then pulling away. Hansen settled with second, while Robert Fryzek took third.
