Rod Johnson, the 1999 Irwindale Speedway Super Late Model Champion, provided CBA Motorsports with its best finish in the Southwest Tour. Rod qualified third in the CBA Motorsports/LTR Racing Engines Chevrolet and finished on the lead lap in seventh.
Crew Chief Vince Barnes provided a car that seemed to work well for Rod. Being one of the fastest cars off the trailer, the team was ready for a good day of racing. The car developed a mechanical problem in the rear end and the team hustled to get the car ready. Holding our breath during qualifying, Rod made it look easy in his qualifying lap that placed him third on the board. CBA Motorsports, Inc. is a subsidiary of Clarence J.
