NASHVILLE, Tennesee -- Powering his No. 62 NAPA/Orleans Dodge to a sixth place overall at the Federated Auto Parts 200, Saturday, August 10 at Nashville Superspeedway earned Brendan Gaughan his sixth top 10 finish of the season and top Raybestos Rookie honors.
"We're definitely back in the groove," said an obviously pleased Gaughan. "After struggling for the past two rounds, the entire Orleans team was more than determined to swing things back in our favor and that's exactly what happened."
Running good times in practice, Gaughan qualified in the 11th place slot and then continued to move up the ladder, running in 8th in Happy Hour. "Our NAPA Dodge was definitely strong," said Gaughan. "And, we knew going in, that barring any unforeseen circumstances, we would be good."
Pulling off the start, Gaughan immediately began to move up. "We were a little tight in the center," he said. "And it was awhile before the first long yellow allowed us to come in and make an adjustment. Once we did that our NAPA Dodge was perfect and we had no problems the rest of the race."
Currently ranked 12th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings,
Gaughan's top ten finish helped close the gap, putting him just 68 points out
of the top ten. "We've got a break now between races and there's no doubt we
will be ready for another top finish come Richmond. September 6th."![]()
