ST. LOUIS -- Indy Racing Infiniti Pro Series driver Arie Luyendyk Jr. was released from St. Louis University Hospital after suffering a bruised left shoulder and right heel in a crash during testing Aug. 13 at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, Ill.
Luyendyk, 20, son of two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Arie Luyendyk, was testing for the Gateway 100, scheduled for Aug. 25, when his No. 5 Luyendyk Racing Dallara/Infiniti/Firestone hit the wall exiting Turn 2 at approximately 8:45 a.m. (CDT).
He was transported via ground for X-rays after complaining of pain in his left shoulder and right heel. All X-rays were negative. He was released at approximately noon (CDT).![]()
