ROCKLIN, California -- Austin Cameron, pilot of the #16 NAPA Auto Parts/Martin Senour Chevrolet and the Orleans Winston West team, 2nd only 42 points out of 1st, continues the fight for those valuable championship points as they take the short 60 minute trip to Stockton, California for the NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Jani-king & Prolong. This weekend’s race marks the return of Winston West racing to Stockton since 1984.
“This weekend’s race is going to be really exciting,” said Cameron. “With the track being a quarter mile oval, there is going to be a lot of traffic to get through. The short track action will keep the fans on the edge of their seats. We’re ready!”
“It is great to race so close to home where we enjoy the support from our families and friends,” said team owner Bill McAnally. “More than 400 customers and employees from NAPA will be attending the race to cheer us on.”
Brett Thompson, pilot of the #61 MBNA/Rich Thompson Trucking Chevrolet, is currently third in the Stage 8 Locking Fasteners rookie standings. Thompson ran in the top ten most of the race at Irwindale and finished in ninth place. In the championship fight, the team holds onto the tenth position. (Note: the NASCAR Winston West race from Irwindale will be televised on Monday, August 26th on Speed Channel at 8 pm EST.)
“We had an opportunity to test at Stockton so I feel we’re one up on everyone else,” said Thompson.
“I love short tracks,” continues Thompson. “I’ve run some of by best races on them and I am looking forward to grabbing the Bud Pole Award this Saturday."
The race will take place on Saturday, August 17th at the Stockton 99 Speedway. Gates open at noon.
