SONOMA, California -- San Jose's James Randolph and Union City's Ken Hill will continue their season-long battle for the No. 1 plate this weekend at Infineon Raceway as the American Federation of Motorcyclists (AFM) travels to the scenic Sonoma Valley.

This will mark the series' sixth round for the 2002 season, and its third trip to Infineon Raceway, where riders will tackle the twisting 12-turn, 2.32-mile road course. Open practice will take place Saturday, with main events in more than 15 divisions scheduled for Sunday, including the premiere Formula Pacific division. Gates open at 8 a.m. each day and admission on Sunday is $10.

Randolph and Hill are deadlocked with 167 points each, while Lafayette's David Stanton sits in third place with 165 points in the chase for the AFM title. The top five riders on the circuit are separated by just 31 points. Randolph is seeking his second consecutive AFM championship. Randolph, who won the last race at Infineon Raceway in May, also leads the Formula Pacific division.

"If I can win the race I can move into the lead but that's the best-case scenario for me," Stanton said. "We'll see how we do. I know James and Ken will be right there."

San Jose's Richard Slejmar tops the 750 Superbike class with 342 points and is followed by Santa Clara's Robert Mesa (307) and Oakley's Doug Pitcock (251). Stanton is tops in Open Superbike with 342 points and is followed by Mesa (279) and Campbell's Mike Raab (267).

The season concludes with another event at Infineon Raceway (Sept. 21-22), followed by the season finale at Thunderhill Raceway Park near Willows (Oct. 19-20).
