After being knocked out of the Winston West race at Irwindale, Gene Woods came back to score a sixth place finish at Stockton, leaving Woods very happy with the way his CNWB Cybercredit Dodge Intrepid performed on the race track.
Car Chief Mike Fisk worked hard to get the battered Dodge ready for Stockton after the Irwindale disaster but everything came together in time and the Intrepid even made a successful promotional appearance at Stockton Dodge prior to the race, bringing many race fans out to the dealership and drawing attention to the event.
At the track Woods qualified 12th and despite fighting tight conditions through the corners managed to race his way to the sixth place finish.
"It shows you what we can do even with handling problems." the motorsports veteran but stock car rookie said after the race. "We might even have finished fourth but I thought the two cars ahead of me were a lap down and didn't push it."
The finish is the highest for Dodge in Winston West competition in over a decade and moves Woods up to 15th in the series points standings.
