The excitement is building at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and although there were some drivers packing up their equipment and heading home, that was not the case for five California rookies in the Busch Grand National Series.
Pitside reporter Pat Ekake said, "After good runs at Daytona and then a bad change of luck at Rockingham, Kevin Harvick rebounded with a good qualifying effort for the Sam's Town 300 at Las Vegas on Saturday."
Harvick will start the race in the 12th position. Jason Leffler surprised even the veterans of the series when he turned a lap at 32.785 giving him the 9th place on the grid. Jimmie Johnson will start 21st, PJ Jones will start 32nd and Ron Hornaday 35th.
Starting on the pole for the event will be Hank Parker Jr. with the veteran and multiple series winner Mark Martin starting on the outside.
The Sam's Town 300 will start at 1pm PT and will be aired on ESPN.![]()
