WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah-- Scott Lynch will climb behind the wheel of the #08 Yerf-Dog Fun Karts/Mr. Gas/Crown Asphalt Chevrolet for Saturday night's Young Automotive Group 250, as the Winston West Series takes center stage at Rocky Mountain Raceways.

With the exception of a 22nd place finish in a Southwest Series event at Irwindale in early August, Lynch has spent the last couple of months going to summer school and finding time to relax whenever possible. But, with his short sabbatical over, Lynch and the rest of the Yerf-Dog crew are raring to go, eager to make their mark in what is left of the 2002 racing season.

Lynch tested at RMR in preparation for Saturday night's race, and following the 250-lap event he will make a Northwest Tour start on Sept. 14 followed by races in Las Vegas, Phoenix and Bakersfield.

"We're full bore into racing right now," Lynch said. "We had our time off in July and we've got a good five or six races in the next two months."

That stretch of racing begins at RMR, a tight, .375-mile asphalt oval that will test a driver's short-track abilities. If Scott needs any tips for success at RMR, he need not look far, as his brother Nick is the current lap-record holder for the truck division. The 20-year old turned a lap in 16.700 seconds in a truck race in June of 2001.

"We talk a lot about racing," Nick said after failing to qualify at Irwindale in the #29 Yerf-Dog Fun Karts/Mr. Gas Chevrolet. "He helps me a lot and I try to help him whenever I can."

Qualifying for the 8th of 10 events on the Winston West Series will begin at 5:30 PM MT. The main event is scheduled for 8:30 PM MT, and will be shown on SPEED Channel at 8:00 PM ET on October 7.

The #08 Chevrolet is sponsored by Yerf-Dog, the largest supplier of Karts in the US.
