TWO MORE CHANCES AT SUPER LATE MODEL $10,000 BONUS

BAKERSFIELD, California -- Two more points races are left in Mesa Marin Raceway’s 25th anniversary season which means that there are just two more chances for Super Late Model drivers to become eligible for the "Coors Light Challenge" $10,000 bonus. The "Coors Light Challenge" $10,000 bonus will be paid to the Super Late Model driver who has won a main event during the regular season and can win the “October Classic” Lucas Oil/Mechanix Wear 200. Four drivers are now eligible for the bonus by winning main events in 2002 - Mike Duncan, series point leader Brandon Miller, Barry Bradshaw and two-time defending Lucas Oil/Mechanix Wear 200 winner, Craig Raudman.

With two races remaining in the 2002 regular season, a sence of urgency has set in as many Super Late Model drivers are making their final bid for a win and their shot at the "Coors Light Challenge" bonus. 2001 Super Late Model champion Dan Holtz will make his first Super Late Model appearance of 2002 this Saturday night, as well as the 1996 championship runner-up Tommy Fry and many other drivers will also enter the final two Super Late Model events.

Also in action this Saturday night will be the NASCAR Late Models as Gene Fife and Gary Elmore continue their championship battle. Fife leads Elmore by just six points entering Saturday’s race. The Street Stocks, ChevronTexaco High School Racing Series and Auto Club 911 Race for Youth Series are all scheduled to compete Saturday.

Pit gates open at 2pm, spectator gates at 6pm with racing starting at 7:30pm.
