Greg Pursley scored another top ten finish this weekend in the NAPA Auto Parts 200 held at Douglas County Fairgrounds. Greg Finished in the 9th position in the 9th race of the season. As long as we are on the number 9, he is also in the 9th spot in the series championship hunt. He also won the Stage 8 Rookie of the Year Award for being the top finishing rookie in this race.
In what was described as an awesome promotion of a NASCAR Winston West race, the series battled in front of a sold-out crowd estimated to be in excess of 5,000 fans. "These fans sure enjoy stock car racing and to be able to meet and talk with them after the race was a thrill for me" said Greg. " A few fans came up to us and said that they had monitored our radio communication, so the first thing I did was apologize. They said 'please don't, that was the most exciting part of watching the race.' There was definitely a lot of rubbing going on."
The series now heads to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the season finale on Saturday October 12, 2002.
With positions 4th through 9th separated by 83 points anything can happen. "We ran real well at Phoenix and California Speedway earlier this year, so we are hoping for a good finish at Las Vegas to end the year on a positive note." said Greg.
