#00 Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary Chevy
NASCAR WINSTON WEST SERIES
NAPA Auto Parts 200
For the second consecutive race, we won the Bud Pole Award in qualifying, dominated the first half of the event and led the most laps.
We established a series record for the newly renovated half-mile paved oval, with a lap of 113.665 mph in the Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary Chevrolet, for that I would like to thank Dave Capriotti and all the guys at DC Racing Engines for the best motors in the west.
We led from the drop of the green flag and had the car to beat as we set the pace through the first 100 laps. The complexion of the race changed on lap 116, when I slowed to find a way around a lapped car that had spun out of turn two. Johnny Borneman darted to the inside and took the lead. The move left us running in his wake for much of the second half of the race. On one of the late race restarts I was passing a lapped car and was bumped from the back spinning me out putting me back to 12th. From that point on I was on recover mode and must apologize to the # 77 when I got into the back of them and spun them out. After that with only a few laps left on another restart there was a 5-car pile up in front of me. With nowhere to go I ended up hitting a spinning car in front of me and I was eliminated from competition at that time. The car was too badly damaged to continue. The 14th and final caution fell on lap 198, causing the race to be extended to 205 laps with a green-white-checkered finish. The Oliver crew prepared the fastest car out there and I managed to wreck it. I know that the #00 crew/team/sponsors are the best in the Winston West they just need a driver that can finish and win a race. We have our work cut out for us to even get to the next race, If any team and crew can do it I know it is ours, what they lack in available time they more than make up for in motivation and heart. If we don't make the last race at Vegas good luck to all the teams Scott #00
