FONTANA, California -- Twenty year old NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver, Ryan Hemphill, will not compete in the American Racing Wheels 200 event today after being involved in an accident late in happy hour practice on Friday afternoon.
Hemphill was exiting turn two when the air was taken off his rear spoiler by the No. 50 truck resulting in Hemphill losing control and crashing into the outside wall. The Truck came to a rest on the back straightaway. He was transported to the Hospital were he was released late Friday evening.
After evaluating the options, Hemphill and Bobby Hamilton Racing made the decision to put NASCAR Winston West Series driver, Ricky Bogart, behind the wheel of the No. 4 Truck for today’s event.
No decision has been made as to the driver on the No. 4 truck for the remainder of the season. Hemphill is scheduled to compete in the final two events of the 2002 season, but the final decision will depend on a day by day evaluation of his progress.![]()
