Phoenix, Ariz. (November 6, 2002) Burney Lamar of W.Sacramento, Calif. top the speed chart in the first practice session over 59 Featherlite Southwest Series, NASCAR Touring cars prior to qualifying for the Cruise America "125" Thursday afternoon. Lamar posted a quick lap of 27.662/130.142mph over 2002 point leader Eddy McKean. 2001 Series champion Craig Raudman was third quick with a lap of 27.859. Thomas Martin in his new Sierra Mist Chevrolet posted the fourth fastest time, followed by Matt Crafton in fifth.

Other notables included Ken Schrader with the 11th fastest time, Raybestos Brakes NW Series champion Kevin Hamlin in 19th, Phoenix native Darrell LaMoure 32nd, M.K. Kanke 35th, two-time winner Scott Hansen 40th, and RE/MAX Champion Steve Carlson in 53rd.

Qualifying will commence at 2:00 p.m. today where 33 cars will qualify on time and eight provisional starting positions will make up the 41 car starting field.####
