WEST RICHLAND, Washington -- Tri-City Raceway is excited to announce that Scott Ellsworth, one of the Northwest’s premier track announcers, has agreed to be TCR’s Announcer and Media Director for the 2003 race season.
Track General Manager Joe Lewandoski said “It took some doing to pry him away from his previous track, but if you are going to put on a first class show you need a first class announcer. Scott’s knowledge of racing and the history of local drivers will make any visit to TCR a memorable one.”
Bringing over 25 years of race experience to the West Richland oval, Ellsworth says “I am very excited to be a part of the new format at TCR. Joe Lewandoski and owner Paul Alderman have worked very hard to take this great race track to the next level. This year’s energetic schedule showcases a mix of all types of racing including the Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series, Winston West, Open Wheel, Dynomax Series and an all new Hornet Class on the new ¼ mile oval.”
Scott’s roots are deep in auto racing – at eight he saw his first race - on the beach at Daytona Beach, Florida. His parents became friends with Fire Ball Roberts and he later crewed for Bobby Stefanic (many-time Modified Champion) at Riverside Park in Agawam, MA. Many fans will remember him from other Northwest Tracks including Evergreen Speedway, Kalispell Raceway Park, Portland International Raceway, Portland Speedway, South Sound Speedway, Wenatchee Valley Super Oval and Yakima Speedway.
Look for the 2003 Racing Schedule to be released in the next few weeks. TCR will open April 5th with racing every Saturday night through September 27th. Construction of the new ¼ mile and pit road remains on schedule. For further information call Joe Lewandoski, General Manager, at (509)967-9271.![]()
