SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. -- This will be the only visit by the NASCAR Winston West Series to Portland Speedway this year.
*** Portland Speedway has been a rewarding track to some NASCAR Winston West Series competitors. Several current active drivers have turned in their career-best finishes at the facility. For Lance Wade it was a runner-up finish in 1995. Kevin Culver came away with a third in 1996. Pappy Pryor's career-best finish came in 1977 when he finished eighth.
*** Hershel McGriff tops the list of NASCAR Winston West Series race winners at Portland Speedway, his hometown track, with five victories since 1971.
*** McGriff has also garnered the most Busch Pole Awards at the historic ½-mile paved oval in the same era. Seven times he has clocked in with the fast time.
*** With 12 starts to his credit, series veteran Jack Sellers has competed in more races at Portland Speedway than any other current active NASCAR Winston West Series driver.
*** Chevrolet tops the list among manufacturers with 14 wins at Portland. A Pontiac was in victory lane last year however.
