BILLY KANN HAS SOMETHING TO PROVE AT PHOENIXDriver: Billy Kann
Birthdate: 2/4/68
Hometown: Tempe, Ariz.
Marital Status: Wife, Becky

Billy Kann, driver of the #19 Interstate Batteries Chevrolet Monte Carlo, is looking forward to competing in the upcoming Phoenix 150, at Phoenix International Raceway.

Where are you in relationship to the goals you set in the beginning of the year?
Setting goals with a one car, one motor, race team on this level is hard thing to do. Our goal was to run all 6 speedway races, were 1 for 1, so I guess were OK.

Who is your crew chief and how long have the two of you been together?
My crew chief's name is John Reeves. John loves this sport and he's done a fantastic job of using his Late Model Touring skills adapt to Winston West this past year that we've been together.

Of the tracks you have visited so far in you Winston West career, do you have one track that is you favorite and if so, why?
I would say Las Vegas, maybe because it's the one we've been on the most.

What do you enjoy most about the Winston West Series?
The cars and the race tracks are neat. But I'd say the people, our relationships with the fans and our competitors makes Winston West special.

Is there any one person in the Winston West Series that has been a major help to you and if so why?
I'd say Gib (Repass), when I called him in 1995 and told him I'd like to try racing in the Winston West he made me feel very welcome!

Are you excited about running in front of you hometown crowd? What other tracks have you raced in Arizona?
We've lived in Arizona for 7 years now, but our real hometown crowd would be Northern Ill., where I grew up. We ran a couple of races at Manzaneta in 1994.

What kind of run are you looking for at Phoenix?
Well I've never run on this track before (Hope I'm not the only one!). We still have to prove we can finish on the lead lap before we make any more statements about how we'll finish.

Where did you get the car you will be running at Phoenix?
Our car was originally owned by Travis Carter and driven by Jimmy Spencer.

What are you plans for the remainder of the year?
Run 5 speedway races, stay on the lead lap at all 5 and try to find sponsorship to run more races. My Interstate Batteries money comes from my own account. It's a way of saying thank you to Interstate for the opportunities they've given me the last 18 years I've been with the company.####
