CARSON CITY, Nevada -- For almost three weeks now, Champion Motor Speedway race fans have been flocking into the Carson Mall in record numbers. The infamous (two-seater) “Handsome” Harry Gant #33 NASCAR Winston Cup stockcar has been on display since December 9, along with a chance to win an (all-events) VIP family season pass.
But all the writing and waiting came to end at 10AM on December 27. Rhonda Price of Carson City, who was on hand representing Champion Motor Speedway, reached into the pile of over 1000 entries and pulled out the lucky name.
And the winner is … Eric Valentine, age 24, also from Carson City.
The “Victorious” Mr. Valentine not only took home an all-events VIP Family Pass (good for two adults & two juniors) but also five white-knuckle laps around the high-banked 1/3-mile asphalt oval in the #33 Skoal Bandit Winston Cup racecar!
The Valentine family have been regular race fans for years, as Eric’s father Gary Valentine raced Mavericks (bombers) at the historical high-banked 1/3-mile asphalt oval back in the 70’s.
Stated the excited winner, “Wow, I can’t believe we won. We love going out to the races on Saturday nights. We have a new baby due in two weeks, so we are truly blessed right now. Now our baby can start off life as a true race fan. We can’t wait for the Champion Motor Speedway racing season to start.”![]()
