ROCKLIN, California -- Jim Inglebright, piloting the #20 JELLY BELLY/NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet joins Bill McAnally Racing (BMR) in the NASCAR Winston West series for the 2003 season. They debut their new team in Phoenix, Arizona at the BOSCH 150 in Phoenix, Arizona. This marks the 50th anniversary season for the NASCAR Winston West series. Inglebright is looking for his first NASCAR Winston West series championship after a very successful racing career in both the NASCAR Southwest Featherlite and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series. With teammate, Austin Cameron driving the #16 NAPA AUTO PARTS/NAPA Belts & Hose Chevrolet, Inglebright is making a run straight for the finish line.
“My focus is to win races,” said Inglebright. “I’ve got a little bit of a learning curve. I’ve never been in a Winston West car but I ran the truck series, and everyone tells me if you’ve driven a truck, you can pretty much drive anything.”
“My teammate, Austin, and I have really hit it off. It’s kind of like the ‘old man’ and the ‘young kid’ is what we’re telling each other. We’re going to have a lot of fun. And you know the old saying, ‘age before beauty’? I’ve already told him that. We’ll see if it comes true.”
Inglebright has had many successes on roads courses, most notably at Infineon Raceway (Sears Point) where he recorded wins three years in a row, something that had never been done before. “I like the road racing,” continues Inglebright. “I also like short tracks. My car owner, Bill McAnally, and I raced Roseville for a few years together. I like getting in there and nosing things around a little bit.”
“I’m looking forward to Phoenix. I’ve ran good there in the past. I won the Copper Classis there in 1999 and raced the NASCAR Craftsman truck there. Phoenix is a really good racetrack. It’s been good to me, it’s been bad to me too, but we’re going to do well there.”
On board as Inglebright’s crew chief is Mario Isola.
“Isola has been with me five years now,” said Inglebright. “He has been a leader on my team though not my crew chief. I have a lot of trust in Isola. I don’t have any worries. I know he’s going top get the job done.”
Inglebright and the #20 JELLY BELLY/NAPA AUTO PARTS team begin their run for the championship at the Phoenix International Raceway February 2, 2003 at 2 pm..
