Phoenix, Ariz. - Making his full-time return to racing, Bryan Germone of Windsor, Calif. picked up his 8th career victory and first win at Phoenix Int'l Raceway in the NASCAR Elite Division, Featherlite Southwest Series. Germone paced the final 20 laps to take the checkers ahead of 2002 series champion Eddy McKean to kick off the 2003 NASCAR racing season.

Following Germone and McKean were Auggie Vidovich Jr. in third, with Ed Hoffman in fourth and Frank Deiny Jr. rounding out the top five. Deiny was the top finishing rookie with Craig Smith collecting the Powerade Move-of-the-Race for picking up the most positions during the race. Jason Jefferson of Yakima, Washington finished 19th to give Dodge its first finish in Featherlite Southwest Series competition.

The race took 1 hour, 11 minutes, and 24 seconds to complete at an average of 84.033 MPH and was slowed seven times for 32 laps of caution. Ken Schrader collected another Bud Pole Award at the Desert Jewell. The Featherlite Southwest Series will return to action on Saturday, March 22 at Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif.
