
FRESNO, California -- Davey Hamilton’s SRL Wild West Shootout kicks off the 2003 racing season this coming Saturday March 22nd, at Altamont Raceway Park.
The Wild West Shootout, which competes at Altamont Raceway Park, Madera Speedway, and Stockton 99 Speedway, will feature a total of ten events throughout northern-California. The Wild West Shootout will make four trips to Altamont’s 1/2-mile this season. Stockton’s high-banked 1/4-mile will host three events, along with Madera’s 1/3-mile track.
This year over $165,000 will be awarded to the Wild West Shootout competitors. Returning to the series full-time is 2002 Series Champion Jeff Anthony, 2002 Rookie of the year Rick Ruzbarsky, Nathan Tucker the 2001 Series champ, and Tim Stratmeyer the 2001 Rookie of the year. Also returning to the series is Ron Strmiska Jr., David Philpott, Ray Lawson Jr, Joey Zampa and many others.
Jeff Anthony led the series in wins with three last year. Ray Lawson Jr. and Joey Zampa each took home two, while John Gaalswyk, Ron Strmiska Jr., Rick Ruzbarsky, and Nathan Tucker each captured one.
The series will head to Stockton 99 Speedway the following Sunday, March 30th for another exciting event. Madera will host the third race of the season Saturday April 12th.
Pit gates open at 11am Saturday; with practice at 1pm. Grandstands open at 3pm with opening ceremonies at 5pm immediately followed by SRL Wild West Shootout qualifying.
